So i'm doing better than the previous entry made it sound. Life is going well overall.
Wedding-wise... um, i'm not sure how it was when i last posted.

We have DJ, ceremony place, reception place, pastor, attendants and color of dresses (indigo) all worked out.
We do not have catering worked out (god, even thinking about it makes me nauseous) or photography, but those shouldn't be too hard. Also need to get in touch with a rental place for pricing of place settings.

The girls get to pick out the dresses on their own, and i'm probably going to go look at dresses with mom next week, so that'll be fun.

i need to work out more and feel better about myself, i know this. And i guess that's about it for now.

Oh, i started garage-saling again last weekend with Tim and his dad, and i decided that for wedding favors, instead of buying paper boxes for a dollar, or whatever, i'm going to get tons of mugs at garage sales (around 30 so far) and fill them with random stuff, wrapping it all in tulle and fastening it with a button. It's just... us, or at least Tim.

i'm also buying all cloth napkins at garage sales that i see.

That's about all the progress that's been made.

i ordered some samples of wedding invitations, actually, so i guess there's that too. i should get them within a week or two. i hope they are nice, i'm really excited about the place i'm ordering from. i hate the normal boring wedding invites. They all look the same!

And i'm trying to figure out a cake topper, as Tim's only idea is a transformer, and while that means something to him, it means nothing to me, so i'm trying to see if there's something that means something to both of us.

For example, someone suggested in one of the wedding communities that she is using action figures for a cake topper. i thought about what i'd want, and found a Tulip action figure (though not a Jesse one, weird, huh?)... http://www.hillcity-comics.com/toys/Tulip.htm That's not really my style though, and it might send a weird message.

Hmm.... http://www.diamondcomics.com/toychest/toys/99_06/preacher_pvc.htm

    <lj:music>In Bloom- Nirvana</lj:music>

So i got my swatch of color for the bridesmaids' dresses in the mail, and now i'm ambivalent towards the color. Go figure. Wedding stuff is going okay though. i'm delivering the $1000 deposit for the reception place today at 2:15, and i'm going to finish the church stuff asap. The florist is done. i'm feeling more content about the food (we're thinking Indian and Italian, for the boring people) and the cake (tiramisu, wedding cake, and i'm thinking of maybe getting cheesecake as well... and by getting cheesecake, i mean seeing if Margaret will make a few and i can make a few... they can't be that hard, and it'll be yet another cool thing).

And, i'm kinda eh about my wedding music at this point. What i care about is the reception, so who cares about the procession music. Yes, Tim, that means that you can come up with FF music IDEAS, if you're so inclined. i think i might keep the bridal music that i had already chosen, and the music after the wedding is done... but i'm eh about the Irish intro to the attendants, as i like the song but have absolutely no Irish blood or caring about Irish stuff. And obviously, i can through in the Jesu thing while people are seating themselves, there'll be music playing then, i hope.

i wonder what we do about sound for the ceremony... oh good, another thing to worry about.

Also, a point of contention between me and Tim was he was thinking about garage sale plates for the reception. The idea is starting to grow on me a bit more, though i want to try to get it matching per table. Think that's impossible? :/ There's 10 to a table.

Eating healthy, doing wedding stuff

Well, i'm doing a fairly decent job at eating healthier. i made turkey burgers tonight, and they are amazing. i now have 5 in the freezer for later times. That and a baked potato was a nice dinner, with a bagel this morning. i had 3 lindt balls, but otherwise i'm going okay. My medication will be done soon, which will be AMAZING, but i'll kinda miss the regiment, as every morning i had to take the pills, and right after i had to have breakfast or i'd be too nauseous from the pills. It was nice to have a bit of routine.

Today Tim and i went to the Refinery to check out the wedding reception site. It was nice and the kitchen was great. Basically, they provide the space and man the bar, and we do the rest. i think we'll end up doing it. They have linen service if we want it, which is nice. i have one more place to call tomorrow, and then Tim and i have to decide, because at this point we have all the info from all the places we're interested in, and it's more of a question of whether we want an exclusive caterer or not.

Blargh.

Back to fitness stuff, i am super excited. Jenna, a friend of mine, posted to chambana about an exercise place she's a member of. i checked them out online, and i'm really impressed. They have a decent deal going on right now, so i'm going to go in on Friday and get a free week with them, check it out, and hopefully end up signing up. i'm excited!

Blargh

Not such an auspicious beginning, i suppose.

i got really enthused about this stuff a few days ago when Danielle and Lindsay dragged me to David's Bridal to try on stuff. i looked gorgeous. Yay for wedding dresses being mainly flattering. However, i'm just kinda blah about the details. There are things i want to do, sure.

For one, figure out a preliminary guest list. It's important if only for an approx. amount of people that might come. One site i'm looking at (that has the top spot in my mind, but Tim, of course, is ambivelent about for political reasons) is one price for less than 250, and one price for more than 250. i think i'll just make an Excel sheet at some point.

For another, looking at florists would be nice. There's no need to hurry on this one, but i'd like to get some idea nonetheless.

For another, reception site. Want to get that nailed down since we have the wedding site and date nailed down (UUC-5/19/2007, for anyone who didn't know).

For another, catering. This looks to be the most complicated part. i can't figure out catering until i figure out where we're having the reception, because a lot are exclusive caterers, meaning that they provide the people and food. But i can't figure out the reception site until i know whether Tim desperately WANTS an exclusive caterer or not. Sometimes he seems sure, sometimes he does not. It drives me nuts. The place i have in the number one spot so far has no exclusive caterer, which is what i think we'll end up going for. But i worry about what to do as far as servers, if Tim decides he wants piecemeal planning as far as the food.

The current idea is to have coleslaw from KFC, skyline from Ohio and Gino's East from Chicago. None of which will provide servers, of course. i have an idea about how to get servers, but we'd have to cut the Gino's East which was probably going to happen anyway. i'm not going to ask the people about it until i know whether or not we have an exclusive caterer... sigh. And that begins the whole cycle again.

BTW- just to let any of the people on this list know what others are quickly learning... we're not going from tradition. We're not going untraditional either, on purpose. We're just doing what we want to do. Seems like a decent idea to me.

So far we have the attendants set:

Tim's side- Caitte, Jacob, Mel, Eva, Danny
My side- Danielle, Diane, Rob, Lindsay, Darren

My friend of honor= Danielle. Tim hasn't picked his top person yet.

We have one usher picked so far, Pat.

The girls involved in the wedding are getting dresses from Alfred Angelo and i probably will too. The dresses will be cornflower. i dunno what my dress will be like yet. It'll probably be white or ivory or any of those lookalike colors.

Btw- any female attendants looking at this, they just put out the new line... so these are the dresses you have to pick from.

i dunno what else to really talk about. It looks like every single bridal book and all that deals with the idea of organizing, and i know i need to, but i just feel so silly about working hard on this. i feel as if i'm giving in to the chauvinist mindset by doing this organizing, especially considering how much Tim cares about this, but at the same time, i know that i'm the one who has the time to organize this and has firmer ideas about what is acceptable to me. Tim just cares about it being "his" wedding. i guess i'm the one who deals with "ours."

Blah. Sorry if i'm sounding silly. This just all gets overwhelming. You'd think it would be simpler since we have so much time, but i get overwhelmed at the drop of a hat. This is why i begin planning so early. Otherwise, i'll never relax.

i hope that the wedding site gets up eventually. i might just make my own on geocities if nothing happens in the next few months. i really would like one i could work on, and that's not going to happen with Tim's site.

So there, those are my current wedding thoughts. You signed up for it.

Hey-
This is my newest journal. This is for weight loss stuff and wedding stuff. Since the weight loss stuff is a little personal, that will be friends locked for the most part, i would think. Feel free to add me, but realize it will all be very mundane. Since the wedding stuff is not very personal... well, you can check that out without being on lj to your heart's content. Knock yourself out.

Anyway, i'm a 22 year old graduate of U of I. i majored in English and World Literature, and i am currently working at Borders. i like it a lot. Soon, i'll be looking at substitute teaching to fill up the rest of my time, and in October 2006 i'll be applying to grad schools.

On October 10, 2005, my boyfriend proposed to me, and we decided on May 19, 2007, to be our wedding date. i can't wait, though there's a lot of planning to be done.

This journal name comes from my favorite book series, the Kushiel Trilogy by Jacqueline Carey. Thelesis is a minor character, a poet, and i like her. She is described as not being nearly as pretty as everyone else, but captivating when she speaks. i kinda like that concept. i certainly don't feel very pretty, and i know i'm overweight, but i've never had problems getting friends or lovers, so i chalk it up to my sparkling personality :p

Also, the title of the journal is three terms in different languages in the novels, all meaning the same word... probably not too hard to figure out for a wedding journal.

i'll write a lot more later, but for now, i'm off to get under the blankets and sleep some. Ciao!
